Hiss Golden Messenger have announced a lengthy North American fall tour. The North Carolina-based indie folk-rock outfit, led by singer-songwriter MC Taylor, will start the newly announced run of shows in Greenville, South Carolina, at the Radio Room on September 24th. Along the way, they’ll make two-night stops in Seattle, Washington, and Denver, Colorado, before finishing in Philadelphia on November 17th. Highlights include headlining performances at the Basement East in Nashville and the newly reopened Webster Hall in New York.
Back in February, Hiss Golden Messenger released two new singles, the breezy, introspective “Watching the Wires” and the intimately soulful “Everybody Needs Somebody,” which both feature backing vocals from Sylvan Esso’s Amelia Meath. The band’s latest full-length project was last year’sDevotion: Songs About Rivers and Spirits and Children, a four-LP box set that included reissues of three previously released albums (2010’sBad Debt, 2011’sPoor Moonand 2013’sHaw) and the rarities compilationVirgo Fool.
On the band’s upcoming fall tour a dollar from every ticket sold at headlining shows will be donated to the Durham Public Schools Foundation in Taylor’s home city of Durham, North Carolina. Before the autumn stint begins, the group will take some supporting slots this summer, opening for Andrew Bird at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium on July 12th and Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre on August 21st and 22nd.
